I for one was totally floored by this romantic development! Unlike every other couple we've seen in Power Rangers, Cassidy and Ethan didn't start out with a lovestruck crush. In fact, they weren't even friends. They virtually ignored each other, until as luck would have it, a computer dating service matched them. Obviously, both were shocked to discover the identity of their online match, but rather than give up on the spot, Cassidy and Ethan decided to give it a shot. And loe and behold, we got to see a different side of both these characters. Cassidy revealed her insecurities, which she masked with an air of obnoxiousness that kept everyone (except Devin) at arm's length. And as for Ethan, we got to see the sensitive side of the cocky computer geek. Even if there wasn't a love connection, after their first real date they mutually decided to be friends. And while that's a little disappointing, I'm glad this brief try at romance gave both characters a chance to display their depth.
