How many times have we seen casual flirting completely dropped without resolution? Or mutual interest left hanging? But this time, a couple truly did come together, their rocky relationship smoothing throughout the series, and culminating with those three special words no other Ranger has uttered. When Jen first laid eyes on Wes, she was still reeling from the apparent death of Alex. To meet a dopplegangar from a thousand years in the past brought the strong young woman to tears, and launched a very tense relationship. Jen at first hated the idea of Wes joining the team, but begrudgingly realized that he was well-suited to carry on as the Red Ranger. What was it about Wes that rubbed Jen the wrong way? It's simple... every time she laid eyes on him, she was reminded of what she lost. And yet, the spoiled rich-man's son proved to be far more than an Alex look-alike. His own courage, selflessness, and optimism slowly impressed the hard-edged Pink Ranger... and his growing devotion startled her even moreso. The tension hung in the air as the Pink and Red Rangers became friends... and even a bit more than that. After the initial hostilities simmered down, their friendship was peppered with lingering touches and near-kisses. Only, Jen carried the enormous burden of losing the man she loved, crippling her ability to express her surprisingly strong feelings toward Wes. It was only after she was forced to leave Wes in the past to face his fate alone, did she finally make her decision. She gave back Alex's engagement ring, and admitted her feelings to Wes Collins in an emotional farewell by the sea. However, their destinies were not to merge, as Jen and the rest of Timeforce had to return to the year 3000, and Wes had to remain in 2001. So with a bittersweet hug, they parted ways... until 2002, when the threat of the Mutorgs made their paths cross one more time.
