I suppose technically Shane and Skyla should be listed on my "Honorable Mentions" page, since Skyla certainly won't be appearing again. However, I think the concept of "destiny" and the impact of Skyla's appearance are strong enough to give this pair a full shrine. Shane and Skyla's feelings for one another were never identified as love, but nonetheless they share a deep and special bond that can never be replicated. Skyla is a Carmanian, an alien race that passes on its life energy upon death to someone special. Years ago Skyla met Shane on Earth, and ever since then she knew he was the one destined to carry on her power. She returned to Earth, only for the relentless bounty hunter Vexacus to follow her. Once again, Shane came to her rescue, pulled by his overwhelming dreams to the very forest Skyla manifested in. He battled Vexacus to protect her, and found himself inexplicably drawn to the mysterious beauty. In the end, Shane managed to safeguard her long enough for her to ascend to her spirit form, leaving her powers with him. The pain of losing her led the Red Ranger to an almost animal rage, in which he summoned the power of Battlyzer Mode and pursued Vexacus into the atmosphere, trying his best to kill the bounty hunter once and for all. Once the battle was over, Shane was despondent, but Sensei reminded him that Skyla would be with him for all eternity. This is the closest thing to soul mates Power Rangers has ever shown us. Despite being separated by time and thousands of light years, they found each other at that critical juncture between life and afterlife. And their bond will empower Shane through the rest of his life, and beyond.
