This is the first and only tragic romance on Power Rangers. There is no doubt in my mind that Villamax loved Trakeena; he practically worshipped her! And she could have learned to love him in return. They met after Trakeena ran away from her father, for fear he would force her to sacrifice her "mortal beauty" by turning her into an infinitely powerful but gruesome bug. She wound up on Onyx, a planet we're all familiar with as the hideout for the dregs of intergalactic society. After being sheltered and indulged by Scorpius all her life, Trakeena expected every villain in the cosmos to immediately fall to their knees in her presence. That attitude got her in serious trouble, and she was attacked by some of the local drunks. Fortunately for her, Villamax saved her, and galantly offered to train her in the fighting arts. After gruelling exercises beneath the heat of the desert sun, the spoiled princess became a warrior fit to succeed her father on the throne. Invigorated by her victory of the very drunks that had harassed her, she decided to take her place beside her father. Villamax vowed to follow her, and serve her as he was needed. He was true to his word, quickly becoming her most loyal and trusted servant after her father's death. And at every opportunity Villamax complimented her beauty and strength, showing the depth of his devotion. However, Trakeena's fate was sealed as a freak accident bound her mind and body to the malicious Deviot, poisoning her soul and alienating her from noble Villamax. He stepped in to prevent her from murdering Terra Venture's helpless civilians, and he paid for his honor with his life. Soon after, Trakeena was mortally wounded by the Red Ranger, and months later she was finally killed by the combined efforts of the Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue teams. And so, not every love story can have a happy ending.
